HPV Colposcopy




HPV colposcopy is performed if the patient has abnormal vaginal discharge or discomfort; colposcopy allows to make a proper diagnosis. It is rather painless and simple, takes about 20 minutes and is performed in the physician’s office. If a Pap smear test shows abnormalities in the cervix, this procedure is made to examine the surface of the cervix closely and make the proper diagnosis. HPV colposcopy is performed if the patient has abnormal vaginal discharge or discomfort; colposcopy allows to make a proper diagnosis.

Abnormal areas are seen as white and no light can pass through them. The procedure is performed with a colposcope – a large electric microscope with a bright light on the end, which makes it possible to visualize the surface of the cervix. HPV colposcopy is performed if the patient has abnormal vaginal discharge or discomfort; colposcopy allows to make a proper diagnosis.
