A cervical cone biopsy in some cases leads to miscarriage, so if the woman wishes to have a baby after treatment, cryotherapy is better. With this, all the abnormal cells should be gone and the sample can be tested for cancerous cells. This procedure removes a funnel shaped area from the canal of the cervix. If an abnormal Pap smear has been found and confirmed by a colposcopy, a conization of the cervix may be recommended.
