During this time of healing the cervix is susceptible to infection, so the patient should refrain from intercourse, douching, or wearing tampons for up to 4 weeks. A pad can be worn for the discharge until the healing process is over.

Cervical Cryosurgery -
Cryotherapy, Vaginal Dysplasia
When a Pap smear shows abnormal cells on the cervix, a common treatment is to kill the abnormal cells by freezing the area using a cryoprobe. The cells that have been frozen will be discharged out of the body by a watery discharge that last about 2-4 weeks. Cervical cryosurgery or cryotherapy may be used for vaginal dysplasia.
